10 October 2019
Prior to the screening of I am Gentrification: Confessions of a Scoundrel on Thursday 10 October, the Lost in Transition debate took place. Moderated by Saskia van Stein, the session explored how architecture can deal with problems arising from a changing world. How do increased migration, inequality and climate change affect our built environment? With the pressure of all these forces, it is time to tackle these problems head-on and to create both positive and structural change. A conversation with Derk Loorbach (DRIFT), Eva Pfannes (OOZE), Nanne De Ru (Powerhouse Company) and Thomas Haemmerli, director of I Am Gentrification. The event was held at the LantarenVenster at 7:30 pm.
Every year the AFFR presents a full programme of short films and documentaries that explore the latest developments in the built environment and urban society. The theme of 2019, ‘Lost in Transition’, investigated how our way of thinking and living will have to change to create a more liveable and equal society, under the circumstances of uncertainty, new emerging superpowers and growing populism in today's world.
