28 October 2022
On Friday 28 of October Eva Pfannes (OOZE) is participating to the Energy Transition workshop.
This workshop explores how we can use the momentum of the current ongoing installation of the grid and central heat network to integrate new and combined solutions. How can we strategically and spatially anticipate the increase in transformer stations and heat distribution stations, knowing that energy demand is increasing? How do we make the transition to a future in which we need as few raw materials and space as possible for the (urban) embedding of these new infrastructures? What innovation could be brought for the energy supply systems in order to integrate and combined to the public space. Could those new elements bring more nature or play requirements in our cities?
A series of transition conversations will explore what transitions do would we want? Each session is set up from the idea of transition design: a better understanding of the transition dynamics makes other (desired) futures more conceivable. By subsequently making these visible and tangible through design, we create a joint perspective for action. In these transition discussions, we therefore jointly develop a guiding vision and concrete actions. The sessions themselves will be supervised by Prof. Dirk Loorbach, Professor of Transitions at Erasmus University and Ir. Peter Veenstra, partner of LOLA landscape architects, both co-curators of the exhibition.
During these sessions, under the supervision of designers and transition experts, we will work towards a joint delineation of the (design) research questions associated with this transition. But we also hope to lay the foundations for a longer process in which we will really help accelerate this social transition in partnership.
