OOZE is member of the DUST consortium who won the European Commission Horizon Europe Open Call

28 July 2022

The project Democratizing just Sustainability Transitions (DUST) led by TU delft team has received funding from the Horizon Europe program of the European Commission. DUST will develop and put into practice new participation tools for proactive and strategic involvement of citizens in sustainability transitions.
Verena Balz from the Faculty of Architecture will lead the three-year project that will start on February 1, 2023.
DUST will combine design-oriented geographic tools with digital tools for citizen consultation on different scales. The project addresses a crucial societal and democratic challenge for Europe, which is to include the voice of the least engaged communities. Particularly in structurally weak regions that depend on energy-intensive industries and that will suffer the most in the transition to a more sustainable future.
In its assessment of the proposal, the EU has highlighted "the innovation potential arising from a scalable model, targeting a wide variety of scenarios and involving civil society in consultation and co-creation policies", and the interdisciplinary approach of DUST, which "convincingly integrates knowledge from political science, policy science, planning and design
The project is led by TU Delft, with a highly competent and enthusiastic consortium of 13 partner institutions from all over Europe.
