8 June 2012
Ooze and Marjetica Potrc in cooperation with Stadionbrache are opening “The Public Space Society” on Friday the 8th of June on Stadionbrache in Zurich West.
The Public Space Society is part of ART AND THE CITY:PUBLIC ART FESTIVAL IN ZURICH WEST
This event has been initiated by the Public Art Task Force (Arbeitsgruppe Kunst im öffentlichen Raum) and put together by Christoph Doswald, the exhibition includes roughly 40 works by artists from all over the world that are installed at various locations in Zurich West. Sculptures, installations, performances, posters and interventions, some in unconventional places, allow for surprising encounters with art and the city, facilitating a new way of experiencing Zurich West beyond the thoroughfares and construction sites.
ART AND THE CITY reflects on the development of this changing district, taking visitors on a multi-layered tour that runs the gamut from industrial base to loft living. In the process, the exhibition project looks at the history of the district from a wide variety of perspectives, examining its current dynamics and exploring a territory steeped in history and stories that stretches from Vulkanplatz to the railway arches and between the Limmat and the main SBB railway artery.
