Eva Pfannes is one of the core members of the Dutch water experts team deployed by RVO (Netherlands Enterprise Agency) for the Dutch Disaster Risk Reduction & Surge Support (DRRS) programme in Recife. DRRS aims to prevent and reduce the impact of water and climate-related disasters worldwide and increase the resilience of affected areas and populations.
A Hackathon is a pressure cooker type of workshop, in which an interdisciplinary group of people answers a research question, exploring problems and solutions in a different way.
Eva is in Recife with Ben Lamore (RVO), Adri Verwey (Deltares), Renske de Winter (Deltares), Femke Schasfoort (Deltares) and a large team of local experts and city officials. They will focus on the main question:
“What are the consequences of low, medium and high-end climate change on flooding in Recife and what are robust solutions?"
